Concept

Based on the Film Metropolis by Fritz Lang, the character that we realized is the robot 'Hel'. The director who influenced the style is Guillermo Del Torro, and the two reals were divided into two.

The period is 1920's based, the upper realm 'Metropolis' is very natural and organic, While the contrasting workers realm is very mechanical and androgynous. Both realms have a bug like feel to the characters.

The character 'Hel' is a product of Rotwang, and is sort of between the two realms. For her make-up, prosthetics and wig, I took Inspiration from beetles, bugs, rust, and also 1920's finger waves.

The colour pallet was inspired by pale and neutral tones to get as far away from the stereotypical silver robot image as possible. Costume by Naomi Howarth.
