Two shoots showing Lady's transition from a worn out, tired and almost given up on life woman, who is stuck in a loveless marriage, and now feels no need to put any effort into her appearance. After meeting Val, Lady is revived, almost reborn into an unrecognizable woman, who plans to run away with her new love once her husband dies.
There is a lot of symbolism in the play, and the constant reference to animals, gave me the idea for all the characters to have some sort of animalistic features to them, whether this is in physical appearance, or in the characters body language.
Lady is represented by a butterfly, as they go through three life stages. Firstly they are born into a caterpillar, then they form a cocoon and wait to be reborn into a beautiful butterfly. This is conceptual within lady’s transition. Lady was born, then met Jabe and gave up on life, then she is almost reborn when she meets Val and they start an affair. The cocoons attached to Lady’s wig hatch once she has found new love and 'reborn again', but butterflies only last for a few days to a few weeks. So we know lady will die, but we don’t know how or when. The butterfly drops dead just before Jabe, Lady’s Husband shoots her.
I made a fine Lace knotted wig, and styled it for who shoots. One where lady does not care about her physical appearance anymore, the other where she has just got back from the salon, for the gala opening of her confectionery- Accurate 1950's period Hair and make-up
